Over 250 Cyclists Usher In The Start Of The Sports Hub Sport Series: Festival Of Cycling

The Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF) and Singapore Sports Hub, a fully integrated sports, entertainment and lifestyle hub in Kallang, launched their inaugural Festival of Cycling 2022 on the 27th of February 2022 as part of the Sports Hub Sports Series.

The Festival of Cycling 2022 comprises six cycling events held at the Singapore Sports Hub over the course of the year. Today’s event featured three activities: a Kids-Cadet event, Road Criterium and an SCF Cycling Esports Experience.

A criterium race in cycling is a short race lasting 1-2 hours in a circuit of a few kilometres (km). The road criterium was the first one organised by SCF this year, with more races to come in subsequent months. Given the popularity of small-wheeled folding bikes in Singapore, a folding bike category was introduced at the race today, which attracted 27 participants.

The criterium events took place at Stadium Drive (North) in five staggered waves, with riders cycling in a clockwise direction, covering 1.25km per lap. The road criterium had 205 participants across 11 race categories.
